Amber gave birth to 13 beautiful puppies and is being a perfect mum.

Now one week old the puppies are all gaining weight and filling out nicely. They are fascinating to watch as they jostle for position on the milkbar and then fall asleep in a jumbled heap after a good feed. Some become very vocal when mum decides it's their turn for a good wash! They crawl around in the whelping box at a surprising speed and can climb right up and over Amber's back as she lays feeding them.
As well as growing rapidly, this has been a busy week in the development of the puppies. Their eyes have opened gradually over the last few days and they can now get up on their feet and walk around rather unsteadily.
Amber spends less time with the puppies during the day now but still sleeps in the whelping box with them overnight. The puppies sleep most of the time but when mum arrives to wash and feed them they are immediately wide awake, squeaking noisily and rushing excitedly around her.
At three weeks old the puppies are much more alert and are starting to interact with each other. Their early attempts at play are very entertaining to watch. There is a great deal of pouncing and grabbing of legs and tails. Pairs of puppies roll around together in mini wrestling matches.
The puppies are enjoying their first meals of milky baby cereal.
Now four weeks old the puppies still sleep a great deal but have bursts of activity in between naps. They are becoming very playful and inquisitive and recognise our voices. Mealtimes and visits from their mum cause much excitement.

During the warm weather this week the puppies have enjoyed spending time in the garden. They are becoming very playful with one another.
They have also met and socalised with several of their future owners.
Amber still keeps a watchful eye on her puppies.
The puppies love exploring and having fun in the garden, weather permitting. They are much more active now, very alert and responsive to us. Their tails start wagging whenever they see us approaching and the sound of their meals being prepared causes much excitement.
